Controller and contact

The data controller is Yunus Emre Ak, operating optionOS under the trade name YEMREAK YAZILIM (tax ID 0110798862, Beylikdüzü / Istanbul, Türkiye). Privacy requests can be sent to hello@optionos.app; the postal address is provided on request.

Data processed

• For an Instagram comment containing beta, link, or optionOS (case-insensitive): comment ID, media ID, Instagram user ID and username, comment text, matched keyword, reply-delivery status, and timestamp.
• If the person submits the waitlist form: email address, optional form answer, referral source, hashed IP address, user-agent, language, waitlist state, and related event timestamps.

Event notifications from Instagram are stored in raw form once their signature is verified. The listed trigger words only decide whether an automatic reply is sent; they do not decide whether the record is stored.

Data leaving the optionOS app

The following covers the optionOS app installed on your Mac. None of the measurement channels described in this section carry what you type or say. Your content leaves your machine only in these cases: when you yourself select a cloud speech-recognition provider; when you use cloud speech synthesis; when you send a support report (the content to be attached is shown to you before sending); and when you separately allow clipboard content to be measured remotely. Each of these depends on your explicit choice and is off in a default installation.

1. Setup and works-or-broken signals — not consent-gated

These carry only a phase identity, never usage content; they exist so we can see whether the product installed and whether it works:

• Setup milestones: setup shown, step advanced, setup completed, first real use, first use of a feature.
• Operational state: a blocked or granted permission (microphone, accessibility, screen recording), a failed update with the version you are stuck on, fault density per day, an unclean shutdown per day.
• The moment you turn on usage measurement. Turning it off — or never turning it on — is not sent; that decision stays on your Mac.

2. Usage measurements — only with explicit consent, off by default

This channel is off by default. If you turn it on, only the totals declared by the features you have enabled are sent; today that means total duration, total words, and session count for dictation. When a new feature declares a measurement, it appears by name in both the setup screen and Settings and can be turned off individually.

• Sent: the numeric totals declared by enabled features, app version and build number, device installation identifier.
• Comparison: you can ask where your own total sits among other users. That query passes the same consent gate, and an answer is produced only once a population of at least 50 people exists.

3. Support packet — only when you send it

When you report a problem from the menu, the packet may include recent log lines, a screenshot you choose, and files you attach. Each carries its own consent field on the packet screen, and it can be sent without signing in.

Speech-recognition provider — your choice

You choose which engine runs your dictation. When you select an on-device engine (Parakeet, Qwen3, Whisper, Cohere, Apple Speech Analyzer), your audio never leaves your machine. When you select cloud-based ElevenLabs, your audio is sent directly to ElevenLabs using your own API key stored in Keychain; optionOS does not view, retain, or copy that recording. From that point the audio is subject to ElevenLabs' own privacy and retention terms. You can change this choice in Settings at any time.

Never sent to optionOS, under any condition

• Your text and voice recordings — to optionOS; delivery to a cloud provider you selected is described separately above.
• Your clipboard content.
• Your screenshots — only if you attach one to a support packet yourself.
• Which app you used and what you did in it.
• Data from measurement groups you turned off.

Identity and verification

If you are signed in, records attach to your account; otherwise they attach to the device installation identifier. Every record sent is written to ~/.optionos/telemetry/outbound.jsonl on your Mac, and Settings › Privacy shows that ledger as-is, so you can verify this notice without taking our word for it.

Purpose, method, and basis

Instagram comment data arrives through a Meta webhook. Waitlist data is submitted by the person through the optionOS form. The data is used only to respond to the person's request, prevent duplicate or abusive requests, send the requested private invitation link, verify the submitted email, and manage the beta invitation.

Where applicable, processing is based on taking steps requested by the person and on the operator's legitimate interest in providing and securing that requested flow.

Service providers

Meta and Instagram deliver the event and private reply. Cloudflare hosts the endpoint and stored records. Resend delivers verification and invitation emails when an email address is submitted.

If a cloud provider is selected or an API key is configured in the Mac app, the content to be processed is sent to that provider: ElevenLabs or OpenAI for speech recognition, Anthropic for text length measurement, ElevenLabs or Fish Audio for speech synthesis. A default installation sends no data to these providers.

Retention and choices

Instagram interaction records are deleted automatically after 90 days. Waitlist records have no automatic retention limit; they are deleted on request.

A person may request access, correction, or deletion without waiting for the automatic period. Other rights may apply under applicable data-protection law.

Security

optionOS limits this flow to the data and providers described above. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
